![]() I've never heard/seen anything like this.Īlso - What's the skinny on powering up a 60 watt amp with only one tube at a time?įrom what I've read it should be okay for briefly testing the sockets, but I'm no tube/electronics specialist.Īny advice on how to begin checking the sockets for continuity issues? assuming it's not a tube issue.įwiw, I have read up on how to avoid electrocution when testing elements within the amp, but again - no expert here, and am aware of some of the more immediate dangers. It's just weird that the humming goes away if I tilt the amp forward or back. I'm going to try plugging in some brand new ones from a recently updated Dean Markley CD-120 amp w/ fresh J&J 6L6GCs They (the used tubes) sound okay in another amp with 6l6gc specs for it's power. Yes - I tried other tubes, in addition to swapping the positions - caveat - the extra (aka used) tubes I have lying around might be suspect, as well? If you are just swapping their positions, you need to try others. Thanks for the reply, Out of curiosity since it was brought up, do any of the Jazz Chorus amps have stereo FX sends and returns on them? To be honest I'm not well versed on all the different models they had come out with and how the reissues differ from the originals. When you say 'swapped power tubes around' do you mean you have tried other power tubes in the amp? It's essentially two 1x12 amps in one case, all independent controls and what not. Ideally I suppose I'd get the vR6000 but they seem near impossible to find,I don't think they were ever officially sold in the states. This Dean Markley CD30 is a 30-watt amp that sports three 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6L6GC power amp tubes. All three of thoes have the stereo send/return set up. That's why I was also looking at the Ampeg 140C and Yamaha VR4000/VR6000 amps. I did run a setereo set up a long time ago but it was using two Pignose 7-100's. I'm still some what new to the whole stereo thing. I supposed you could use a Y-cable right? Don't how how that would sound or affect the tone if at all. Now maybe there is a trick I don't know about to split the mono send and if there is I'd love to know. ![]() I've looked into the Jazz Chorus amps and although I do like them every one I've found has a mono send and stereo returns. I do want to stay under the $300 mark though price wise. The first is a normal input, and the other features 6dB less gain for high-out/pre-amplified instruments. The second and some what more important reason is that it has a stereo FX loop. This Dean Markley CD30 is a 30-watt amp that sports three 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6L6GC power amp tubes. Well the reason for the Dean Markley I guess is two fold, they are cheap I can pretty easiley find one for under $100 and from all the reviews and even the youtube demo, it's a pretty nice sounding amp. Here at Dean Markley, the way we make bass strings, and for that matter all of our strings. Maybe I'm not looking right but I haven't been able to find many that have a stereo effects loop. Try our Stainless Steel bass strings for a brilliant punchy tone. I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has one. The only other amps I've been thinking of are the Ampeg 140C and Fender Princeton Chorus which I believe also has a stereo effects loop. Once output tubes are installed and fired up, everyone of the amps has a loud hissing that can be lessened or increased via the reverb control knob. I like the compact aspect of it and the simplicity of the controls. recently picked up 8 ( yes 8) Dean Markley CD-60 from the early 2010s (actually 2 are cd30 but pcb is virtually identical). ![]() Supposedly you can get 240 different possible combinations, sort of similar to the Peavey VMT amps.Īnd here the only youtube video I could find of it.įrom the video it sounds pretty darn nice. One unique feature though on the amp is a set of DIP switches on the back to tailor the on board gain. This is an American-made, channel-switching amp with its original 12' 8-ohm 'Magnum' speaker (made by Eminence). The Tolex has some scuffs and marks, but no tears. I'm only concerned with the clean tone really as I tend to use pedals for any kind of dirt, which I don't use much of anyways. For sale: 1986 Dean Markley CD-40 40-watt tube combo amp, with original footswitch, in very good condition. They seem to go really cheap and I'm not sure if it's because no one knows about them or because they are junk. All the reviews I've read are pretty glowing. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on them, either the DMC80 or DMC40. The Dean Markley DMC series amp has caught my eye and was curious of anyone here has ever used or played through one. I'm toying with the idea of picking up a stereo amp, specifically one with a a stereo effects loop.
